Colombo, 28 June 2025 — The Arabic Calligraphy Association of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Young Men’s Muslim Association (YMMA), proudly hosted a captivating Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition today in Colombo. The exhibition was officially declared open by Hon. Dr. Rizvi Salih, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.
The exhibition featured an impressive array of artistic works, showcasing the talents of 15 students from Colombo schools, a group of emerging artists from Arabic colleges, and five master calligraphers from the Arabic Calligraphy Association of Sri Lanka (ACAS). Their combined efforts presented a vibrant display of traditional and contemporary Arabic calligraphy styles.
The event drew a large and enthusiastic crowd, including the President and members of the YMMA, art enthusiasts, and members of the general public. The exhibition provided a unique opportunity for visitors to appreciate the beauty and spiritual depth of Arabic calligraphy, while also encouraging young artists to pursue the art form.
The exhibition will remain open to the public tomorrow as well, at the YMMA headquarters, Dematagoda Road, Colombo 09.
The Arabic Calligraphy Association expressed its gratitude to all participants and supporters, highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting this rich cultural heritage.
