The national-level event titled “Al-Qur’anic Scientific Arabic Calligraphy Competition and Exhibition – 2026”, organized by the Department of Arabic Language under the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language of South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, was successfully held on 12.06.2026 at the university premises.

The event brought together students, educators, artists, and Arabic language enthusiasts from various parts of the country, serving as an important platform to showcase the artistic beauty, spiritual depth, and scientific expression of Arabic calligraphy.

The prize-giving ceremony was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. S.M. Junaideen, and the Dean of the Faculty, Ash Sheikh M.H.M. Munas, along with many distinguished academics and guests.

The event was further honored by the presence of the Zonal Director of Education, R.M.I. Mohamed Ali Jinnah, who attended as the special guest.

The exhibition segment also featured the contribution of the Arabic Calligraphy Association of Sri Lanka (ACAS). Under the leadership of Ash Sheikh A.B.M. Ashraf, the artworks of the following talented calligraphy artists were displayed:

• Ash Sheikh Uvais Naleemi

• Ash Sheikh Junaid Naleemi

• Ash Sheikh Silmy Noory

Furthermore, Ash Sheikh Fahim Naleemi served as the coordinator of the ACAS.

We are also pleased to mention that our ACAS Organization participated in this prestigious university-level event and proudly represented our institution through active engagement and contribution.

In addition, the exhibition showcased the artworks of competition winners, selected outstanding student creations, and many other impressive calligraphy works. The artistic presentation of Qur’anic verses and various Arabic calligraphic styles attracted great admiration from visitors.
